{"id":7675,"date":"2023-04-13T07:57:38","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T07:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lynettelockhart.com\/client\/npr-to-quit-twitter\/"},"modified":"2023-04-13T08:03:20","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T08:03:20","slug":"npr-to-stop-using","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lynettelockhart.com\/client\/npr-to-stop-using\/","title":{"rendered":"NPR to stop using Twitter, says account&#8217;s new label misleading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Reuters) -National Public Radio (NPR) will no longer post content to its 52 official Twitter feeds in protest against a label by the social media platform that implies government involvement in the U.S. organization&#8217;s editorial content. <\/p>\n<p>NPR said on Wednesday Twitter refused its repeated requests to remove the inaccurate label of &#8220;state-affiliated media&#8221;, now changed to &#8220;government-funded media,&#8221; which did not accurately capture its public media governance structure. <\/p>\n<p>British broadcaster BBC has also objected to the latest label, saying it&#8217;s misleading. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we continued tweeting, every post would carry that misleading label,&#8221; NPR said.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with BBC, Twitter&#8217;s billionaire owner Elon Musk said earlier on Wednesday the company was trying to be &#8220;accurate&#8221; and looking into amending the label. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our goal is simply to be as truthful and accurate as possible..
